This is a rewarding opportunity to join a dedicated team as a Complex Support Worker, caring for a young man with a traumatic brain injury in his own home, while also supporting him in engaging with the community. Due to a physical disability, he needs assistance with all daily activities. He also has cognitive impairments, so support workers play a key role in encouraging his independence and offering him choice in his daily life. Our client is determined, good-humoured, and committed to making progress. He enjoys a variety of activities, both at home and in the community.
This position is more than just caregiving. As a one-on-one support worker, you'll need drive, motivation, and a proactive approach in helping with his rehabilitation, including physiotherapy and speech and language therapy (SLT). Good negotiation skills are often necessary to help de-escalate any frustrations. This role suits someone who is comfortable with routine tasks like administering medication via PEG, maintaining good housekeeping, and who enjoys playing games, organizing activities, and enriching his life with meaningful experiences.
Responsibilities:
Providing person-centred 2:1 care and support.
Encouraging engagement in physical, social, and community activities.
Supporting physiotherapy routines and wellbeing goals.
Promoting independence while maintaining safety and dignity.
Working effectively as part of a supportive team.
Maintain detailed documentation to a high standard.
What we are looking for:
Outgoing, confident, resilient and proactive individuals.
Comfortable and experienced working with non-verbal clients.
Flexible and available to work weekends (bank/on-call basis) and cover shifts at short notice.
Reliable, dedicated, and committed to high-quality care.
Able to confidently manage challenging behaviour and continuously risk assess situations.
Experience supporting people with complex needs or learning disabilities (preferred, but training will be provided).
Willingness to learn new skills.
Ability to build strong relationships with the client's family and the wider healthcare team.
Strong commitment to confidentiality, respecting the privacy of the client and their family.
A valid driver's license is preferred.
We currently have Bank hours available, with the possibility of more permanent hours in the future. You will need to be able to provide paid on-call cover for a minimum of one Friday, Saturday and Sunday a month (both day and night shifts).
This position can be both fun and deeply rewarding!
All applicants must be willing to undergo an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check.
