Base salary between 30,000 and 33,500 depending on experience. As a Compliance Officer, you will play a crucial role in supporting the company's regulatory obligations as an FCA-registered business. This role will be responsible for onboarding customers, conducting due diligence and ensuring the business operates in line with the UK Financial Crime legislative framework and internal policies. Working closely with the Senior Compliance Officer and MLRO, you will support the development of a robust compliance culture and contribute to shaping a dynamic and forward-thinking function.



Please note: this is a full time, permanent, office based role from our Birmingham head office. This role does not qualify for visa sponsorship, all applicants must have the right to work in the UK.



Principal responsibilities and accountabilities



Customer Due Diligence (CDD) & Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD):




Conduct thorough KYC/CDD checks on new and existing individual and corporate clients.

Identify and perform EDD as appropriate, including for PEPs, high-risk jurisdictions, or other high risk indicators. Escalate higher-risk or suspicious cases to the Senior Compliance Officer and/or MLRO for review.

Ongoing Monitoring & Risk Management:




Review, maintain, and update customer files and records in line with GDPR and internal policies.

Monitor customer activity for signs of suspicious behaviour or financial crime indicators. Investigate possible fraudulent claims and escalate accordingly.

Compliance Advisory:




Support 1st line colleagues with day-to-day compliance-related queries.

Communicate clearly with customers when requesting documentation or resolving issues. Identify and manage potential concerns relating to customer vulnerability or welfare.

Regulatory Awareness & Best Practice:




Maintain strong working knowledge of relevant UK and international financial crime legislation and regulation.

Keep abreast of regulatory developments and share insights with the wider team. Support the continuous improvement of compliance systems, controls, and processes.


Data Accuracy & Documentation:




Ensure all compliance records are recorded accurately and stored securely.

Support internal audits or regulatory requests with complete and timely documentation.

Additional Responsibilities





Industry knowledge: Maintain and develop in depth understanding of the precious metals industry, company product offering, and evolving market trends to support strategic objectives and provide high quality client advice. Team Support: Proactively cover and support colleagues' responsibilities during period of absence, ensuring continuity of service and team operations. Other Duties: Undertake any other reasonable tasks or duties within your skill and capability as required by

management in line with the needs of the business.

Person specification




Qualifications and training

5+ years' experience in a Financial Crime-related role (preferably in regulated services). Relevant certification in Financial Crime Compliance (e.g. ICA, ACAMS) desirable. Knowledge of GDPR and data protection principles.

Technical skills and experience

Strong understanding of Financial Crime regulation and KYC/CDD requirements. Experience with compliance platforms or technological solutions. Excellent communication skills and customer-facing experience. * Proven ability to manage multiple tasks with precision and confidentiality.
