Key Responsibilities

Technical Compliance & Advisory
Maintain comprehensive knowledge of current building regulations, BSR requirements, and emerging legislative changes, providing expert interpretation and guidance across the business.
Lead technical compliance reviews for complex projects and high-risk buildings, ensuring adherence to all regulatory requirements.
Develop and maintain technical compliance policies, procedures, and guidance documents aligned with Building Safety Act 2022 requirements.
Provide technical advisory services to clients, architects, and contractors on building regulation compliance and best practice solutions.
Manage a portfolio of complex projects requiring specialist technical oversight and key client relationships.
Regulatory Risk Management
Oversee compliance with Building Safety Regulator requirements across all Harwood operations.
Manage the complaint resolution process in accordance with BSR standards and company policy.
Conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies for regulatory compliance issues.
Lead technical investigations and incident management, ensuring appropriate corrective actions and lesson learning.
Maintain regulatory breach reporting procedures and liaison with BSR as required.
Quality Systems & Continuous Improvement
Maintain ISO 9001 Quality Management System compliance and oversee annual audits.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives through analysis of audit findings, complaints, and performance data.
Develop and deliver technical training programs for staff to ensure competency and regulatory compliance.
Monitor industry trends and best practices to identify improvement opportunities.
Stakeholder Management & Reporting
Prepare compliance reports for the Board of Directors with recommendations for strategic improvements.
Manage relationships with external consultants, professional bodies, and regulatory authorities.
Represent Harwood at industry forums and technical meetings.
Support business development through technical expertise and regulatory knowledge.
What you can bring to the role

Qualifications and Professional Membership
Full professional membership of RICS, CABE, or equivalent professional body
Minimum 5 years' experience in building control or related construction compliance role
Registered Building Inspector (Class 2F minimum) or ability to achieve registration within 6 months Technical Skills
Comprehensive knowledge of Building Regulations, Building Safety Act 2022, and BSR requirements
Experience with ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems
Strong understanding of construction technology and building methods
Proficiency in building control software systems and Microsoft Office Suite Core Competencies
Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Proven ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously
Experience in stakeholder management and client relationship building
