THE OPPORTUNITY
The Compliance Business Manager is responsible for establishing, implementing and maintaining effective compliance frameworks that support the adherence to regulations and internal guidelines provided by Group Compliance, and promoting a culture of compliance within the business units in the UK to ensure good client outcomes are achieved.
The role involves the day-to-day operational implementation of risk and compliance processes, ensuring effective frameworks are in place to achieve good client outcomes and regulatory compliance.
A key responsibility is managing the first-line compliance team and assisting business areas in implementing the rules and principles of all relevant regulators through robust controls, processes, and training.
The successful candidate will promote a culture of rigorous thinking and controls that align with the organisation's risk appetite statements while supporting sustainable business growth.
The position includes running the product governance process, conducting fair value assessments, and overseeing the facility approval process. Coordinating activities related to consumer duty, such as developing the management information suite, is also required.
The role entails contributing to the company's operational resilience and business continuity planning efforts, as well as questioning and advising stakeholders on regulatory and licence matters, escalating issues to Group Compliance when necessary.
Collaboration with the Group Compliance function is essential for implementing new policies and regulations into the business, drafting processes, and creating guidance notes as needed.
The candidate will also work with Group Compliance to find practical solutions to complex compliance matters.
The role includes overseeing the investigation of customer complaints to ensure fair, outcome-based resolutions in line with regulatory and business requirements, while maintaining the complaints register, analysing trends, and identifying areas for improvement or further training.
The successful candidate will manage the reporting and escalation of regulatory breaches, loss events, and systemic issues, ensuring remedial and preventive actions are implemented effectively. They will contribute to projects and process improvement initiatives, maintain all compliance-related registers, and prepare reports on compliance activities and findings for governance forums and Group Compliance.
Additionally, the role involves providing training and raising awareness of compliance matters across the business, ensuring all employees are informed and equipped to uphold regulatory standards.
