The Compliance Manager ensures that the Food Safety and Quality Management systems in use at Aquascot are appropriate to the business needs and compliant with regard to current legislation, Customer standards and policies and the standards in use by the business e.g. Global Standard for Food Safety, Organic Standard.
The primary objectives are to:
Ensure that the Food Safety and Quality Management system of Aquascot is efficient and effective.
Ensure that the business and its products are compliant with relevant legislation, standards and policies.
Undertake internal and second party external audits of suppliers.
Uphold and promote the Aquascot values of Actively Ambitious, Power of Partnership, Naturally Kind and Integrity matters.

Key Duties & Responsibilities
System:
Participate in the site HACCP process as part of the site HACCP team.
Maintain and improve documentation associated within the Food Safety and Quality Management System, including as a systems administrator for q-pulse.
Manage internal audit and inspections schedule with reference to business activity, risk assessment and the requirements of the third party and Customer standards.
Manage the internal audit team
Conduct internal audits as per the Internal Audit Schedule.
Ensure the closure of internal audits and completion of corrective and preventive actions.
Stay updated on changes to legislation, customer policies and 3rd party requirements.
Monitor and undertake assessments of compliance on reviewed / amended Customer and third party standards and policies.
Investigating Food Safety or Quality issues, including identification of root cause.
Suppliers and Customers:
Support Third Party Audits and Customer Visits (BRC, Soil Association, RSPCA Assured, EHO, RSPO, Trading Standards) e.g. traceability, paperwork, compliance evidence.
Conduct second party auditor to assess risk and performance of suppliers, including fish, ingredients, packaging and service providers as required.
Investigate and upload of results in regard to customer out of specification surveillance reporting.
Reporting:
Prepare reports for internal and external stakeholders
Compiling internal and external reports on investigations, root cause analysis and corrective actions.
Personal Attributes:
Essential Skills & Experience
Degree qualified in food science or related field
3+ years compliance management (preferably food industry)
Knowledge, understanding and experience of food safety, quality and chain of custody third party certification systems and audits (e.g. BRC, Soil association)
Experience in data collection, trend analysis and KPI reporting
Proficient in MS Office ( Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Skilled in data analysis and KPI reporting
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
