This Compliance Manager role is central to the success of our people and culture. What You'll Be Responsible For As our Compliance Manager, you'll oversee HR and safeguarding operations across the business. From recruitment onboarding through to employee relations, you'll be the go-to point for compliance, policy, and people support--always with a focus on safeguarding standards, wellbeing, and long-term retention.

You'll manage HR processes with rigour, advise managers with clarity, and act as the escalation point when risk or complexity arises. This is a role that demands accuracy and empathy--ensuring our people experience is safe, fair, and motivating. What You'll Lead + Deliver HR Operations & Compliance

Lead day-to-day HR operations, ensuring compliance with UK employment law, safeguarding policies, and internal procedures. Oversee safer recruitment and onboarding, ensuring every employee meets the standards of Keeping Children Safe in Education and company safeguarding policies. Maintain accurate HR records, contracts, and personnel files in line with GDPR
. o Manage employee lifecycle processes including onboarding, probation, contract changes, and exit procedures.

Act as the escalation point for safeguarding or HR compliance concerns, conducting risk assessments and advising leaders appropriately. Keep HR policies and handbooks up to date, aligning with legislative and business changes. Employee Relations & Support Provide first-line advice and support to managers and employees on HR queries, ensuring consistency and fairness. Guide managers through employee relations issues (disciplinary, grievance, absence management, performance reviews) with confidence and clarity. Champion wellbeing and engagement initiatives that foster a positive workplace culture. Support training, development, and performance review processes across teams. Stakeholder Management & Culture Build strong, supportive relationships with employees and managers at all levels. o Promote HR as a partner function that enables growth, safeguards people, and supports business goals. Communicate clearly and effectively with stakeholders--balancing professionalism with a people first approach. Act as a trusted advisor to the Sales and Operations Manager and leadership team on people matters. Continuous Improvement Audit HR and safeguarding processes regularly to ensure best practice. o Stay up-to-date on HR law, safeguarding regulation, and sector standards--making proactive recommendations to improve processes. Identify opportunities to streamline systems, improve compliance, and enhance employee experience. o Contribute to shaping a people strategy that drives retention, growth, and performance across the business. What Success Looks Like in This Role HR operations run smoothly, with compliance risks proactively managed. All safeguarding and HR policies are up-to-date, understood, and consistently applied. Employees feel supported and engaged, with clear, fair processes in place. Managers feel confident managing their teams with HR support. Accurate, audit-ready HR documentation and reports are consistently maintained. Employee retention and satisfaction improve year on year. You'll Be a Great Fit If You Have: Proven experience in an HR role--ideally at Advisor or Manager level within education, recruitment, or another regulated sector. Strong knowledge of UK employment law, HR compliance, and safeguarding standards. The ability to manage sensitive issues with professionalism, discretion, and care. o Excellent organisation and attention to detail--able to balance multiple priorities without compromising quality. Strong communication and influencing skills with stakeholders at all levels. A people-first mindset, with the confidence to enforce compliance standards when needed. Experience using HR systems and handling confidential data securely.
