Role Overview

As Compliance Manager at VoCoVo, you will lead global regulatory and data compliance for our expanding portfolio of hardware and software products. This is a strategic and hands-on role ensuring our products meet applicable safety, environmental, RF, digital and electronic regulations -- both today and in the future.

This is a great opportunity to take ownership of certification processes (e.g. IEC, CE, UKCA, FCC, RED), internal auditing, data privacy (e.g. GDPR), and security-related compliance as global standards evolve. You will work closely with engineering, QA, supply chain, and legal teams to embed compliance across the full product lifecycle, and anticipate changes that may impact our roadmap or obligations. You'll be passionate about ensuring VoCoVo remains compliant, competitive, and trusted across all regions we serve.

What we're looking for

Prior (4+ years) experience in regulatory compliance or product quality assurance, across both hardware and software domains (ideally consumer/commercial grade electronic devices). Expert knowledge of IEC, CE, FCC, UKCA, RoHS, REACH, RED and related global standards for hardware products. A deep understanding of software/data compliance frameworks such as GDPR, UK DPA 2018, and familiarity with DPIAs. Previous experience of working with certification bodies, test labs and regulatory agencies. Exposure to and an understanding of ISO frameworks (e.g., ISO 9001 and/or ISO 27001). The ability to interpret technical documents including test reports, schematics and PCB layouts. Brilliant stakeholder management, project coordination, and communications skills. An analytical mindset, strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently across multiple workstreams.

"Nice to have" skills

Previous experience with DECT, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, or other wireless communications technologies. Familiarity with RED Delegated Acts (e.g. proposed cybersecurity requirements). Experience conducting privacy audits, writing PIA/DPIA reports or implementing security controls. Formal qualifications such as ISTQB, ISEB or other related QA/compliance qualifications. A background in consumer electronics, IoT or telecommunications. Experience with tools such as Jira, Git and Qase in regulated development environments.

What you'll do

Ensure all VoCoVo physical products meet applicable global standards, including CE, FCC, UKCA, RoHS, REACH, IC, RCM, and the RED Directive (2014/53/EU). Oversee and take ownership of compliance for VoCoVo's software services and data handling processes, ensuring alignment with GDPR, UK DPA, and other relevant data protection regulations. RED Directive & Horizon Scanning - you will actively stay informed of updates to legislation. In particular the RED Directive, including future requirements like cybersecurity provisions under upcoming Delegated Acts, and prepare the business accordingly. Own and manage compliance documentation such as Declarations of Conformity, technical files, software/data assessments, and audit logs. Work effectively with component suppliers and software vendors to ensure upstream regulatory alignment. Contribute to the development and audit of ISO-aligned systems (e.g., ISO 9001 for quality and ISO 27001 for information security). Ensure VoCoVo devices meet all applicable RF regulations across international markets (ETSI, FCC Part 15, ICES-003, etc.). Identify and mitigate product or organisational compliance risks, and support incident response where needed. Advocate for and champion a proactive compliance culture across engineering, operations, and commercial teams through education and enablement. Proactively monitor emerging regulations across the UK, EU, US, and other markets and create strategies for product approvals. To include cybersecurity, accessibility, and AI/data regulations that may affect VoCoVo's roadmap. Ensure product designs comply with the relevant standards and directives, and that the technical file and product documentation is up-to-date and accurate across both hardware and firmware disciplines. + Lead and coordinate product testing for electrical safety (IEC 62368-1), EMC, RF (DECT, EN 300 328, etc.), and environmental compliance.
+ Oversee data privacy impact assessments (DPIAs), compliance checklists, and secure development practices.
