Key Responsibilities
As a
Safeguarding Compliance Officer
, you will play a critical role in ensuring all recruitment activity aligns with current legislation,
Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE)
guidance, and internal safeguarding policies. You'll work closely with recruitment consultants, candidates, and schools to manage compliance checks, maintain safeguarding records, and lead on all safer recruitment processes.
Your responsibilities will include:
Overseeing all pre-employment vetting, including DBS checks, right-to-work documentation, reference checks, and qualification verifications.
Ensuring full compliance with KCSIE, DfE guidance, REC standards, and other relevant legislation.
Maintaining and updating the Single Central Record (SCR) accurately and in real time.
Supporting the training and development of staff on safeguarding and compliance best practices.
Conducting regular audits of compliance files and internal processes to ensure consistency and quality.
Liaising with external bodies (e.g. DBS, local authorities) when required.
Keeping up to date with changes in safeguarding legislation and updating internal policies accordingly.
What We're Looking For
Experience in a resourcing, compliance or safeguarding role, ideally within education or recruitment.
A strong understanding of safer recruitment practices and KCSIE guidelines.
Exceptional attention to detail and strong organisational skills.
Clear and professional communication skills - both written and verbal.
Ability to manage sensitive information with discretion and confidentiality.
Proficiency in using compliance databases and reporting tools.
