Overseeing and coordinating all activities related to compliance with regulatory and voluntary standards (such as ISO, BRC, FSC), as well as environmental regulations such as EPR (Extended Producer Responsibility) and EUDR (European Deforestation Regulations).
This role will ensure that the organization complies with all relevant standards and regulations, including those set by our global blue-chip customers.
This role is crucial in ensuring that Sabert meets its sustainability commitments and complies with relevant standards and regulations, contributing to the long-term sustainability and reputation of the organisation.
Reporting Line
Day to day direct report to the UK Operations Manager with strategic reporting line into the EQSH Manager based in Belgium.
Key Responsibilities
1. Compliance with Standards and Regulations:
Ensure the organization's compliance with international standards and regulations such as ISO, BRC, FSC, and other industry-relevant standards.
Prepare and submit compliance reports regularly to senior management.
2. Monitoring and Evaluation
Monitor compliance with all standards, including environmental regulations, such as EPR and EUDR
Conduct internal audits and performance evaluations to assess compliance with standards
3. Procedures
Develop and implement policies and procedures that promote sustainability to reduce the environmental impact of the organization
Ensure that these policies are in line with relevant standards and regulations.
4. Training and Development
Organize and facilitate training programs for staff on sustainability and compliance issues
Promote 'best practices' throughout the organization.
5. Managing key stakeholders
Work closely with external organizations, including governmental councils and certifying bodies (e.g., ISO, BRC, FSC), to ensure that the organization maintains its certification status and meets the latest requirements.
6. Proactive mindset
Research and innovation efforts to develop new methods of reducing the organization's environmental impact and quality procedures.
Stay informed about new trends and opportunities to enhance the organization's practices.
7. Risk Management
Assess and address compliance risks
Prepare action plans to mitigate any identified risks.
Assist in the update of Sabert UK integrated management system (Work SOPs)
8. Required Qualifications and Experience
Qualification in Sustainability/Environmental Management or a related field.
Experience in managing compliance, particularly regarding ISO, BRC or FSC
Good working knowledge of environmental regulations, such as EPR and EUDR
Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders.
Fluency in English (French desirable but not essential)
Fluency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Outlook)
