. This role is hands-on and mechanically focused, specialising in
Screw and Piston compressors, Desiccant Dryers, and plant performance
.
You will be responsible for keeping compressor and vacuum plant operating reliably in critical healthcare environments.
Key Responsibilities
Service, overhaul, and fault-find on medical air and vacuum generation plant
Work extensively on:
Oil-free and lubricated screw compressors
Piston compressors
Desiccant dryers and filtration systems
Vacuum pumps and receivers
Other Medical Gas equipment
Diagnose mechanical failures, pressure issues, air quality faults, and performance degradation
Carry out plant-level PPMs including strip-downs, component replacement, and performance testing
Support commissioning and major remedial works on compressor plant
Participate in a 24/7 emergency call-out rota (1 week in 4-5)
Complete detailed service reports and performance records
Work flexibly, including early starts, late finishes, nights, and overnight stays when required
About You
Essential:
Qualified and experienced compressor engineer
Strong mechanical engineering background
Proven experience with screw and piston compressors
Ability to diagnose complex mechanical and performance faults
Desirable:
Desiccant dryer maintenance and dew-point control
Vacuum pump servicing
Experience in medical, laboratory, or clean-air environments
Pneumatic and compressed air systems
Medical gas-specific training and compliance instruction will be provided.
