High Grange School is seeking to appoint a confident, competent, and skilled teacher in delivering core subject areas, specifically Computing. This job is suitable for candidates with experience of working in Special Educational Needs and candidates who are looking for a change of career and joining an outstanding school.
This position is well-suited to a candidate with good subject knowledge and the ability to deliver Computing content to pupils in Key Stages 3, 4, and 5/
The successful candidate will work alongside subject leads for ensuring the delivery of the curriculum in line with the National Curriculum and national guidelines, while adhering to the school's curriculum model. This includes, but is not limited to, the following:
Computing
: Key Stage 3 Computing, digital literacy, and e-safety topics. Key Stage 4 Computer Science.
In addition to teaching responsibilities, the successful candidate will undertake further duties to support pupils' learning in alignment with the school's policies and procedures. All pupils at High Grange School have a diagnosis of high-functioning ASC, with possible additional diagnoses of PDA, ADHD, or mental health challenges. The ideal candidate will be expected to demonstrate a thorough understanding of safeguarding procedures in accordance with the Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE) 2025 guidelines.

Main Duties & Responsibilities
High Grange School is an outstanding school dedicated to providing a nurturing environment for pupils with specific needs, particularly those with Autism Spectrum Condition, Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA), ADHD, and mental health challenges. We are seeking a dynamic, skilled, and proactive teacher to join our team and deliver outstanding education in Computing to pupils across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5.
Key Responsibilities:
Teaching
: Deliver high-quality Computing lessons to pupils across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5, ensuring that content is engaging, accessible, and appropriately challenging.
Teacher Standards
: Undertake all responsibilities in line with the Teachers' Standards, maintaining professional practice and high standards of teaching & pedagogy.
Curriculum Delivery:
Uphold the school's ACE ethos ensuring that Adaptive Thinking, Communication Skills, and Emotional Wellbeing are embedded throughout the curriculum to foster pupils' growth in autonomy.
Curriculum Knowledge
: Keep up to date with developments in the National Curriculum and relevant Computing qualifications, ensuring your teaching is aligned with current educational standards, research and requirements.
Professional Development
: Demonstrate a commitment to continuing professional development (CPD) and contribute to the school's ongoing process of self-evaluation and development.
School Systems and Procedures
: Learn and implement the school's systems, structures, policies, and procedures in accordance with the school's ethos and operational standards.
Curriculum Planning
: Design, in collaboration with subject leads a varied, ambitious curriculum that enables pupils to build knowledge, skills, and understanding in both Computing.
Individualised Teaching
: Adapt teaching approaches to meet the diverse needs of learners, ensuring all pupils benefit from a supportive, inclusive learning environment.
Resources:
Modify teaching resources and equipment to ensure accessibility for all pupils, while providing appropriate levels of challenge for more advanced learners.
Collaborative Working
: Work collaboratively with colleagues to assess and develop pupils' learning needs. Provide guidance and support to Teaching Assistants, who will work with pupils on a 1:1 basis during lessons.
Behaviour and Discipline
: Implement the school's Empowering Resilience Policy (Behaviour Policy). Complete necessary training in Team-Teach at an intermediate level, to support pupils with complex behaviour.
Fostering Independence
: Encourage pupils to take responsibility for their learning by fostering creativity, initiative, and independence in the classroom.
Special Educational Needs (SEN)
: Demonstrate an understanding of the 0-25 Special Educational Needs (SEN) Code of Practice, tailoring teaching to the individual needs of pupils.
Self-Reflection:
Regularly assess and reflect on your teaching practices to identify areas for improvement, striving for continuous professional growth.
Pupil Progress Monitoring
: Participate in the school's targeted pupil progress monitoring systems. Assess, record, and track pupils' academic and social progress systematically, using data to inform lessons.
Feedback and Reporting
: Provide constructive feedback to pupils, set informed progress targets, and monitor progress against these goals. Prepare and coordinate Annual Review paperwork, ensuring it aligns with the pupil's EHCP.
Parental Engagement
: Report on pupil progress regularly to the Principal, Headteacher, Deputy Headteachers, Assistant Heads, and parents, ensuring open and transparent communication.
Pastoral Support
: Undertake Form Tutor duties, providing pastoral care and creating a nurturing, positive environment for pupils to thrive academically and personally.
Keyworker Role
: All members of staff are key workers, take on the responsibility of keyworker for one pupil, helping to integrate the ACE ethos into their learning journey and acting as a primary point of contact for parents and staff.
School Activities
: Support and contribute to extracurricular activities, such as lunchtime clubs, after-school clubs, offsite educational visits, and school events. Participate in parent evenings and other school events as required.
Collaboration with External Professionals
: Work constructively with external professionals to support pupils' learning and development, ensuring that the school's approach is holistic and multi-disciplinary.
