Balfour Beatty's Power Transmission & Distribution (T&D) business is delivering critical infrastructure across the UK - and we're growing. We're looking for an experienced Construction Manager / Site Manager to join our Ipswich-based team, supporting the high-profile BTNO Project.

This is a key role requiring strong leadership, technical understanding, and a safety-first mindset in managing cabling installation works on a major power infrastructure project.

Your Responsibilities Will Include:Planning, managing, and delivering site-based construction activities - safely and sustainably Driving works to meet programme deadlines, cost targets, and quality standards Leading site teams, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure excellence in delivery Managing stakeholder and client relationships to maintain trust and transparency Ensuring all personnel, systems, and resources are in place for successful execution Creating and nurturing a positive site culture where safety and teamwork thrive Continually reviewing performance and implementing improvements Working closely with project leadership to meet customer requirements and project constraints across time, cost, quality, risk, and scope


What you'll be doing




Hold periodic project reviews (PRM) and update the Digital Briefcase in

accordance with GBL

Ensure the team maintain accurate project records (progress, daily diaries

etc.)Prepare both internal/external reports and liaise with stakeholders

Knowledge and experience of discipline
Implement technical information and drawings into delivery
Understand and specify plant and equipment requirements
Numerical skills
Complete buildability assessments from first-hand experience
Initiates good scope/information/configuration management principles
Ensure reports provide relevant information which enable decisions to be made which are informed, cost effective and in line with overall strategy
Ensure scope and package assignment supports the team in coordinated working
Ensure a relentless focus on Zero Harm & keep up to date with changes in legislation
Responsible for the safety and welfare of the general public, employees and supply chain
Carry out periodic Safety & Environmental Tours/promote observation and safety initiatives
Monitor effectiveness of the H&S Management System and implement improvement solutions
Delivery and upkeep of welfare requirements
Write and review RAMS and accepting subcontractor RAMS
Identifying, raising and reporting risks and hazards
Ensure sufficiency and competency of workforce
Reinforce golden rules
Understand, control and issue safety documentation
Completion of audits
Drive behavioral safety and compliance
Setting people to work
Plan and ensure delivery to programme
Check competencies
Escalate and manage on site issues
Upskilling others
Empowerment to stop works
Deliver a quality product
Resolve resource issues
Drive productivity
Develop, implement and update resource allocations plans (OBS) and raise appropriate requests
Produce plans for the team to achieve goals/aspirations
Develop high performing teams, promote a pipeline of talent and assist with internal training through supporting, guiding, motivating and empowering the team. Using the resources available through training, mentoring and performance management.
Ensure all work is undertaken with a view towards handover and certification
Accountable for KPI's in line with project objectives and monitor performance
Ensure assurance activities (audits) are undertaken and take appropriate action on findings
Lead working groups and work with OLT on focused improvement areas
Ownership of Budget for the elements of the project they are accountable for
Knowledge of commercial impact
Manage commercial change
Requestion of plant and materials
Quantifying materials needed
Ensure that expenditure is in line with the budget and that resources are utilised efficiently to ensure cost control
Able to identify elements for cost recovery from others

The following qualities/experience are desirable:

Experience of working on a variety of project types
Proficient on O365
Holds a current driving licence


The role holder is likely to have one or more of the following:

CSCS and SMSTS or Equivalent
