"A very strong construction practice" - Chambers UK

We are looking for a Senior Associate to join our Band 1 rated Construction team in Bristol. From a very well regarded base in the South West, our hugely experienced construction and engineering team is firmly rooted throughout the UK and beyond, taking advantage of a strong overseas network across our international offices. This is a great opportunity to join a market leading team and have a broad and exciting workload for clients who are leaders in their fields.

The practice

Our non-contentious construction practice is truly comprehensive in scope and features leading work on a national scale and is a practice that the firm is actively looking to expand to compliment and support Osborne Clarke's strategic direction.

We advise on nationally important infrastructure projects, such as energy generation (primarily through renewable sources), regeneration and iconic development projects, mixed use and residential development, commercial and logistics projects and major retail developments.

Our work ranges from initial procurement advice, legal project management, through to negotiating complex construction procurement agreements, whether bespoke or based on the myriad of industry standard forms commonly used in the UK, and whether leading or working alongside other advisers. We also work closely with our contentious construction, major projects, renewables, commercial real estate and banking and project finance teams.

We advise clients across a number of sectors who are leaders in their fields, including GLP, Foresight, RWE, Hochtief, Arlington, UPP, Pario, Amey, Greystar, Indurent, Cubex Land, Barratt and David Wilson Homes, Taylor Wimpey, InfraRed, Vistry Group, Octopus, Equitix, NGED, Conrad, Bluefield and Downing.

The team

"They are a tightly knit unit. Their pragmatic advice is very good and it is also timely." - Chambers UK

The Construction team in Bristol is led by Chambers ranked Philip Davies and Alexandra Gower. The team also comprises of 2 further partners, 1 Legal Director, 2 Associate Directors, 4 Senior Associates, 4 Associates, 2 Trainee Solicitors and 1 Senior Paralegal.

Technical skills and experience

You will have knowledge and experience of Construction matters which will have been gained at a well-respected City or National firm. You will be highly motivated and interested in getting involved in a broad range of work working on different project types and across different sectors. You will be versatile and able to work across a range of different matters across different sectors and will be used to working on matters where there are multiple interested parties (for example where there are forward funding arrangements or there is a project finance-led structure involved). Due to the nature of the work and the structure of the team, we are looking for a Senior Associate candidate, although we will consider candidates with more or less experience.

clear expectations of your role and what it takes to progress; high quality clients and work, with early responsibility and client exposure; thorough assessment and individual feedback from a range of experienced colleagues; robust technical training with early skills based development, increasingly tailored to you; and reward for your contribution, progression and potential, rather than PQE or tenure.
