Undertaking the duties of Supervisor as stated in the Contract (NEC 3 ECC) and undertake construction planning activities on fencing and vehicle restraint system (VRS) assets.
To ensure safe, compliant and accurate delivery of schemes from pre-construction through to practical site completion.
The role encompasses responsibilities of both CDM regulations and NEC contract
requirements, ensuring practical constructability reviews take place during pre-construction design stage and then ensuring inspection and physical witnessing onsite is undertaken during construction.
The role coordinates between CPS teams with the aim of ensuring we plan for safe and cost- effective solutions to maintain or improve the asset to the standards agreed. The second half of the role is to provide engineering supervision of construction operations so to ensure CPS is confident Design, H&S, Asbestos & Temporary works are all being managed as per the expected design & process. The Supervisor will be responsible for management of the day-to- day construction works including associated Health, Safety, Environment, Quality and Sustainability issues on site.
The role is independent from the framework contractors and is primarily focused on ensuring the project is constructed in accordance with the design, specifications and procedures set out by CP/CPS.
Ability to work weekends and nights as and when required.
Dartford / South Mimms / Leatherhead offices whichever preferred.
What you'll be doing
Working collaboratively with the M25 Community as the delegated NEC Supervisor for
the schemes you will be responsible for:
Undertaking the duties of Supervisor as stated in the Contract (NEC 3
ECC). Acquainting yourself with the schemes design and raising queries with regards to constructability, in terms of safety and quality.
Inspect construction activities to ensure they meet the specified quality standards and contract requirements.
Conduct regular site inspections to monitor progress and compliance.
Attend site meetings and collaborate with sub-contractors to resolve
issues. Ensure accurate records are kept of all inspections, tests, and audits.
Verify that materials and workmanship comply with design specifications.
Witness and approve testing procedures and review test results.
Witnessing on-site testing and commissioning and keeping appropriate records of results.
Identification and notification of any defects and potential hazards in accordance with the Contract.
Ensure all work complies with relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations.
Promote safe working practices on-site.
Verifying the standards of work and the materials supplied by the sub-contractor in accordance with the Contract.
Approve or reject work, ensuring compliance with the contract.
Act as the NEC Supervisor under the terms of the NEC contract, ensuring the contractor follows the contract clauses.
Monitoring the progress of the works and providing advice to the Client Project Manager, including raising any risks and issues to delivery.
Submitting daily shift reports on a regular basis, in line with the project requirements.
Maintaining appropriate records of site inspections, testing results and audits.
Oversee the completion and handover process, ensuring all works are completed to specification.
Ensure all documentation, including as-built drawings, operation, and maintenance manuals, are submitted.
Attending meetings and inspections, both on and off site as required.
Conducting enhanced construction planning / scouting activities of renewals schemes to confirm the latest status of the works proposed.
Who we're looking for
NEC3 ECC Supervisor Accreditation.
Degree/HND in Civil Engineering or related discipline or equivalent experience.
Experience of the design and construction of highway infrastructure projects.
Good writing, client-facing and communication skills.
Diligent, proactive and thorough approach to detail.
Collaborative and practical approach to problem solving.
Knowledge of the Design Manual Road and Bridges and Specification for Highway Works.
Experience in carrying out duties of NEC supervisor.
Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS).
New Roads and Street Works Act (NRSWA).
EUSR (Cat and Genny course).
Site Manager Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS).
