Chances Mentoring is a registered independent specialist school that focuses on providing therapeutic education and mentoring to children with various learning needs, especially those with EHCPs (Education, Health and Care Plans) and behavioural issues. Our services include a variety of academic and vocational (construction and hair and Beauty) programs. We also deliver a cross curricular thematic curriculum which is tailored to the needs and interests of the students with subjects like Geography, History and Creative at the forefront of the students' learning. Additionally, we offer ASDAN qualifications and AQA Awards, which help our students achieve accredited qualifications and gain essential skills for post-16 education and beyond.
We also incorporate daily physical activities, outdoor learning experiences, and community engagement to support students' mental health and enhance their ability to concentrate. Our approach includes various assessments to track and develop student progress, which are shared with both schools and families.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
Teaching Construction Skills from basic to Level 1 and 2.
Creating an inspirational learning environment with high expectations of learner achievement, success, and progression - respecting individual differences in culture and background and reflecting this in the environment of the classroom.
Ensuring that lessons are well planned, enabling learners to achieve and progress.
Planning, producing, and updating schemes of work, to meet curriculum, inspection, and accreditation requirements - considering guidance from the DfE and other regulatory bodies, to ensure compliance with all current requirements.
Using a range of teaching and learning strategies and resources, adapted to learners' individual needs - in line with the schools teaching and learning policy.
Identifying clear teaching objectives, learning outcomes, developing learning resources and learning routes that meet learner needs.
Maintaining good order and discipline among the students, safeguarding their wellbeing, setting high expectations for behaviour, and being responsible for behaviour management within the classroom; aiding in behavioural management across the School.
Teaching both practical and theory work.
Qualifications
A recognised teaching qualification (L3 minimum) (Desirable)
Experience of Teaching and Planning.
Occupational background in construction skills including but not limited to, Bricklaying, Carpentry, Electrics and Plumbing. (essential)
Experience of working with a cohort of young people including those with complex, high behaviour and additional learning needs. (Desirable)
An extensive knowledge and understanding of how to use and adapt a range of teaching, learning and behaviour management strategies, including how to personalise learning to provide opportunities for all learners to achieve their potential.
NVQ Level 2 or above Qualification in construction (Essential) .
