We teach in small groups with a dedicated and experienced teaching team, ensuring that each student receives individual attention and care. We create individual learning packages to support our students' needs.

Main Duties



Plan and deliver engaging, high-quality lessons across a range of construction trades (e.g. brickwork, carpentry, electrics, plumbing, painting & decorating). Embed practical, hands-on learning and link theory to real-world construction tasks. Prepare students for industry-recognised qualifications (e.g. City & Guilds, CSCS). Differentiate teaching to support learners of all abilities, including those with SEN. Promote safe and responsible use of tools, equipment, and materials in line with Health & Safety. Monitor, assess, and record learner progress through practical assessments, portfolios, and reports. Manage classroom behaviour, promote teamwork, and maintain a positive learning environment. Supervise and support Teaching Assistants in delivering learner support. Build links with local employers, training providers, and apprenticeship schemes to enhance employability opportunities. Contribute to the wider school community, including enrichment activities and industry-related projects. Uphold safeguarding responsibilities and ensure a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for all learners. Participate in staff meetings, CPD, and departmental planning, contributing to continuous improvement.

About You



Strong and up-to-date knowledge of construction trades, industry standards, and safe working practices. Ability to deliver practical skills training in a workshop environment and link theory to real-world applications. Confident classroom practitioner with effective behaviour management skills. Excellent communication, able to motivate and inspire learners, including those who may be disengaged or have SEN. Organised and adaptable, with strong planning and assessment skills. Committed to safeguarding, equality, diversity, and inclusion in education. Enthusiastic about building employability skills such as teamwork, problem-solving, and resilience. Proactive in building industry links and preparing students for apprenticeships and employment. Willing to submit an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Check (DBS). Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or relevant qualification/experience. Complete Child Protection Training. Promote and safeguard the welfare of all children and young person's they are responsible for, or come into contact with.
