Job Description

This is an exciting time to be part of Neurodevelopmental Services. We need a dynamic and innovative consultant clinical psychologist who can make a strong contribution to the development of the East ND service, to reflect the changing needs of our population.



You will be a compelling leader who can use the evidence base to inform clinical practice. You will provide highly specialist clinical and consultation skills within a very supportive MDT. You will work with the senior leadership team and partner agencies within East area to be part of developing new ways of working. This will necessitate working in conjunction with regional ND developments across North Wales.



Your skills will bridge the data needs between performance and clinical requirements, working with service and operational managers to ensure that data is collected in a meaningful way to meet performance requirements, and be used to develop clinical services.



We have a supportive network of child psychologists across specialisms for peer and professional support. We benefit from having a regional assistant psychologist dedicated to research who can provide support for your research interests. We have excellent links with the North Wales Clinical Psychology Programme; we provide placements and regular teaching, as well as accessing CPD.



Provide a highly specialised clinical psychology service, providing specialised psychological assessment and therapy to clients.



Work individually and in accordance with the practice code, ethical principles, and guidelines of the BPS and HCPC.



Have delegated responsibility for the professional leadership, planning, systematic provision & review of Child Clinical Services within East area of BCUHB.



Have responsibility for the professional leadership & management of clinical psychologists, assistant psychologists and psychological therapists within Child Clinical Psychology Services in the East.



Establish ways in which broad clinical and professional policies should be interpreted, & be accountable for own professional actions and decisions.



Help to devise, develop, interpret & implement discrete policies and service developments as required for the Child Clinical Psychology Service for the East area.



Help to develop psychological therapies provision and ensure clinical governance processes are in place and implemented in the East area.



Carry a highly specialist clinical caseload of clients with complex & enduring needs within East BCUHB area.



Ensure provision of child clinical placements for the North Wales Clinical Psychology Programme (NWCPP).



Provide teaching and training for multi-disciplinary BCUHB staff & for the NWCPP.



Utilise highly specialised research skills for audit, policy and service development, & research.
