This is a consultant appointment within the Gastroenterology Department of the Specialist Medicine Directorate, which delivers clinical services across both Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells Hospital sites. The successful candidate will join a team of nine other gastroenterologists within the Trust. The role includes contributing to the delivery of a high-quality gastroenterology service, as well as supporting general medicine services at the Tunbridge Wells Hospital site.

The post-holder will join a team of nine consultants: Drs Blaker, Bell, Barnardo, Baburajan, Bird Fegredo, Mahumud, Maiden, Sharma, and Hanumantharaya. Clinical duties will include inpatient care at
Tunbridge Wells Hospital
, with endoscopy and outpatient clinics held at either
Tunbridge Wells
,
Maidstone or Fordcombe Hospitals
.
Inflammatory Bowel Disease Service
The
Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) Service
at MTW cares for approximately
4,500 patients
, including around
1,450
receiving
advanced therapies
. The Trust is a recognised leader in developing
regional IBD care pathways
and offers access to all
NICE-approved advanced treatments
. This is supported by
Virtual Biologics and Immunosuppression Clinics
operating across both sites, and a team of
four IBD Clinical Nurse Specialists
.
The post-holder will be encouraged to play an active role in the continued development of the IBD service--particularly in collaboration with the
digital health team
to create and expand
virtual care models
that support patient self-management where appropriate. Additionally, there will be strong support for the post-holder to contribute to and further expand the
IBD research portfolio
