We are looking to appoint 2 Consultant Gastroenterologists to join our team, based at Musgrove Park Hospital in Taunton, Somerset.
All areas of sub-specialisation will be considered, we are keen to appoint candidates who will compliment the existing skills of the team.
We have permission to appoint trainees who are in a UK higher speciality training post within 12 months of their predicted CCT date at the time of interview in December 2025.
Our service offers the full range of endoscopic procedures and sub-specialities and we are due to move in to our brand new, purpose built, state of the art endoscopy unit at Musgrove Park early in 2026. We are active in research in both luminal gastroenterology and hepatology and the hospital hosts medical students from both Plymouth and Bristol Medical Schools.
Shortlisted candidates will be expected to visit the hospital in person prior to the interview date to meet the key individuals in the service including the current Consultant Gastroenterologists.

Main duties, tasks & skills required

You'll play a pivotal role in managing complex gastroenterological conditions, participating in the emergency on-call rota, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless patient care.

MRCP (UK) or an equivalent postgraduate medical qualification
CCT in Gastroenterology (with or without General Internal Medicine), or expected to obtain it within 12 months of interview

Competence to work independently without direct supervision
JAG (or equivalent) accreditation in upper and lower GI endoscopy
Understanding of clinical risk management and evidence-informed practice

Ability to prioritise clinical needs and organise workload efficiently
