Job Description

The candidate will be responsible for the assessment and immediate care of children admitted acutely to hospital, the care of children in outpatient clinics, and all relevant clinical administrative work for his/her own patients.



Outline of duties as below.



Outpatient clinics:

These clinics review General Paediatric referrals from GPs within the community as well as from Specialists within the Oxford Children's Hospital.



On call Duties:

including the management and discussion of patients admitted under acute/general paediatrics to the Oxford Children's Hospital from 5pm- 9am. Frequency on calls will differ between summer and winter months. These shifts are non- resident.



Consultant of the week:

We run a consultant of the week system consisting of daily ward rounds supported by a full team of trainees, SAS doctors, inpatient psychiatrists and psychologists, safeguarding doctors and nurses, social care, specialist medical teams like respiratory medicine, gastroenterology, endocrinology, cardiology, neurology, oncology, rheumatology, paediatric surgery, genetics, paediatric orthopaedic surgery, paediatric intensive care with a dedicated inpatient HDU outreach team, and advanced nurse practitioners.



Nephrology:

Duties will include undertaking weekly nephrology clinics, liaison and support for specialties within the Children's hospital in Oxford including providing support for Paediatric Urology (staffed by 3 Consultant Paediatric Urologists), Foetal Medicine/Neonatology, Oncology and Acute Paediatric services.
