Job Description


The Dermatology department at Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust (MYTT) comprises medical, nursing and admin staff over three sites at Dewsbury Hospital, Pinderfields Hospital, and Pontefract General Infirmary. The successful applicant will join the existing consultants to form a team of 5 Consultant Dermatologists, 1 Clinical Assistant and 2 Specialty Doctors. The CNS team have Specialist skills in Cancer and skin surgery, prescribing and biologic monitoring.The MYTT is part of the Yorkshire Cancer Network. MY is the central base for the regional Burns Unit, with whom Dermatology has developed close liaison with the Plastic Surgeons. Our excellent facilities provide well equipped clinic rooms, operating theatres, treatment rooms, phototherapy and photodynamic therapy. The Skin Cancer IOG requirements are in keeping with national standards with regular local and specialist multidisciplinary team meetings. The Trust is an active participant in the West Yorkshire Cancer Alliance.Main duties of the jobProvision of care to patients in the Dermatology departmentsReferral of patients to other specialities as appropriateIn conjunction with senior colleagues to have responsibility for ward referrals on a rota basisOut-patient activities/clinics dependent on the needs of patientsMinor surgery to include biopsies, curettage and excisions with direct closureInvolvement in relevant multi-disciplinary teams and meetingsInvolvement in relevant administration dutiesTeaching and supervision of junior medical staff and other clinicians as appropriateActive involvement in audit and clinical governance including service improvement activitiesAbout usWe are an acute trust caring for over half a million people in Wakefield and Kirklees.
