There are opportunities to pursue special clinical interests and to gain experience across a number of clinical service areas including Learning Disability, Forensic CAMHS, Eating Disorders, and Complex Trauma/LAAC services.Based in the east in the dynamic city of Glasgow (but covering the health board area so travel will be required), this post holder will provide psychiatric input to the intellectual disability pathway for children and young people with moderate to profound learning disabilities and mental health disorders or complex genetic or neuropsychiatric disorders as part of the Board-wide Tier 4 CAMH service.The LD CAMHS team is one of a number of specialist tier 4 CAMHS Teams across NHSGGC and Regional Services who work alongside 8 Tier 3 CAMHS teams across the health board area.The LD CAMHS team has a multi-disciplinary staffing complement and serves a diverse socio-economic population. This service specialises in developing and delivering mental health services to children and young people aged 0 to 18 years who are presenting with significant mental health problems which have an impact on their adaptive functioning and require additional interventions to those provided within locality CAMHS services. The post-holder will provide support and intervention for the most vulnerable children and young people in NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde who have generalised learning disabilities as well as significant needs and risk as part of their neuropsychiatric/ mental health disorder(s). The post holder will work alongside colleagues in the Psychiatry of Learning Disability service to transition young people into the adult service at the age of eighteen.This post will require experience of working with under 18s with learning disabilities, and knowledge of the law and best practice as it relates to children and young people with mental health disorders and learning disabilities. The post holder will be responsible for providing psychiatric assessment and treatment to children and young people under 18 years of age, supporting and working with other team members, and providing reports for children's hearings where required.Applicants must have full GMC registration and a licence to practice. Those trained in the UK should have evidence of higher specialist training leading to CCT in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and inclusion on the GMC Specialist Register or eligibility for specialist registration (CESR) or be within 6 months of confirmed entry from date of Interview. Non UK applicants must demonstrate equivalent training. Experience of having worked in tier 3 or 4 child and adolescent psychiatry services is essential.
