Required to fill this replacement post within the Orthopaedic Department at Chapel Allerton Hospital.
This is a 10 PA appointment for a Consultant surgeon, with special interests in soft tissue knee surgery. This post will deliver 10 PAs supporting the Soft Tissue Knee team (Mr Sanjeev Anand, Mr Ram Venkatesh and Mr Owen Wall). There will be opportunities to contribute to the trauma on call rota. The post will be based at Chapel Allerton and LGI.

Main duties of the job
The successful applicant should possess MB BS (or equivalent) and should be included on the Specialist Register or within 6 months of CCT at the time of interview, if currently within a training programme within the UK. In accordance with the consultant appointment regulations, all other categories of doctors must be on the Specialist Register.
Applicants should have established skills in Trauma and Orthopaedics and its related specialties including soft tissue knee surgery. A strong commitment to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and a research interest is desirable.
Consideration will be given to applicants who wish to work full or part time and those wishing to job share.

Job responsibilities
1. Applicant must be able to deliver a high level of care in management of patients with soft tissue knee pathologies, including cruciate and collateral ligament injuries, meniscus repairs, osteotomies around knees and patellofemoral reconstructions.
2. This job involves providing an on-call general trauma service besides providing tertiary level care for patients with knee injuries. Applicant would need to work in close collaboration with trauma/MTC and paediatric orthopaedic colleagues to deliver in management of complex knee trauma including knee dislocations and paediatric knee pathologies
3. Applicant would be providing acute knee injury service across the trust and would need to link with other knee/orthopaedic colleagues; emergency department; physiotherapy and orthotic services and community musculoskeletal services to develop/facilitate this.
4. Applicant would need to work in close collaboration with the colleagues and management team to provide timely care to patients and manage waiting lists in line with trust policies

Evidence of continuous career progression consistent with personal circumstances.
Desirable
  • Experience in managing knee trauma including complex tibial plateau fractures and knee dislocations. Experience in management of paediatric knee trauma and pathologies.
