Consultant In Stroke & Acute Medicine

Job Description

The post-holder will be expected to develop, in conjunction with the department, a comprehensive service for stroke and acute medicine within Sunderland, and contribute to out of hours stroke thrombolysis, and weekend/Bank Holiday review, as part of the designated South of Tyne model. The post-holder will be expected to provide, in conjunction with the department, a comprehensive service for inpatient and outpatient stroke and acute medicine. Inpatient care will be undertaken as part of the team, and an on-call service on a 1 in 7 basis will be developed, to provide daily input into IAU, to support and develop ambulatory pathways, and undertake regular emergency out-patient reviews. Out-patient care will be undertaken with clinics in both stroke and acute medicine where required following discussion with the clinical director, lead clinician, and directorate manager.



The post-holder will be expected to contribute to teaching and clinical audit and work within the Clinical Governance framework of the Trust. Participation in service planning within the Directorate will be expected, with a commitment to working within organisational expectations.
