This is a great opportunity for an enthusiastic Consultant to provide community secondary mental health services to adults over the age of 25 years with mental health needs requiring specialist assessment and interventions.

There are two adult Community Mental Health teams in the West Norfolk area; one that serves the Kings Lynn area and one that serves the Downham Market and Swaffham area
###

Main duties of the job

The post has 7.5 programmed direct clinical activity sessions and 2.5 programmed 'supporting professional activity' sessions.

The job plans and working patterns of doctors reflect the functional requirements of the Locality and the National Service Framework for Mental Health and are not determined by catchment area.

All whole time doctors are expected to work 7.5 Direct Clinical Care (DCC) sessions in one or more of the clinical teams.

Through job planning and agreement 2.5 sessions Supporting Professional Activities (SPA) allow for the possibility of a special interest, teaching and research, management duties, administration and continuing professional development.

These arrangements allow for some flexibility and the opportunity for doctors to change their working patterns and clinical interests as things develop. With regular job plan reviews it is expected that doctors roles will be flexible and the focus of the role change the from time to time, e.g. from predominantly in-patient to say primary care.
