This is a vacancy due to retirement of current Consultant. The post holder will join the Pennine Community Eating Disorder teams (PCEDS)
This post holder will provide Consultant Psychiatry input and clinical leadership into the 2 Community Eating Disorders Hubs. The South Hub multidisciplinary team encompasses Stockport, Tameside & Glossop. The North Hub multidisciplinary team encompasses Bury, Oldham and Rochdale metropolitan boroughs.
This is an ideal post for those who have experience working in community eating disorder service and looking to move to a new job. It is also an excellent opportunity for a new qualified consultant child and adolescent psychiatrist who might want a split post between community CAMHS and CEDS. This is a full time (10 PA) post with 5 programmed activities devoted to each CEDS team. Pennine CEDS provides a comprehensive community service to young people up to their 18 th birthday, who are resident in the identified Boroughs of the Trust footprint, and who have a significant Eating disorder
To help lead the Community Eating Disorders team in providing emergency, urgent and routine multi-disciplinary assessment and treatment plans for young people with significant Eating disorders.
To assume consultant clinical responsibility for those young people who are directly receiving psychiatry input, and to support consultation and liaison with other professionals.
To adhere to the policies and procedures in support of the caseload, maintaining appropriate clinical records, confidentiality and administration.
To work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team, and provide strong clinical leadership to the CEDS team.
To participate in reviews, CPA, referral and step-down planning.
To ensure effective referrer engagement and professional liaison with Paediatrics / Physical health teams/social care/education.
To utilise the CPA, and also the new Mental Health Act, the Children Act and the Mental Capacity Act when required.
To work in partnership with other professionals/ agencies involved in the care of young people, across departmental and organisational boundaries.
To provide appropriate clinical supervision to the CEDS MDT, and offer consultation to referring professionals.
To take a leadership role in the development of evidence based practice, practice development and teaching within the field of Adolescent Psychiatry.

To ensure effective referrer engagement and professional liaison with Paediatrics / Physical health teams. To ensure the highlighting of additional needs to be addressed by other agencies eg social care / special education / physical health.
To utilize the Care Programme Approach, and also the new Mental Health Act, the Children Act and the Mental Capacity Act when required.
To work in partnership with other professionals/ agencies involved in the care of young people, across departmental and organisational boundaries.
To provide appropriate clinical supervision to the CEDS MDT, and offer consultation to referring professionals.
(Alternative travel arrangements will be available for non-car drivers on journeys essential to the carrying out of their duties).
To lead in the areas of medical practice in particular, and mental health practice in general using a clinical governance framework.
To take a leadership role in the development of evidence based practice, practice development and teaching within the field of Adolescent Psychiatry.
Safeguarding & Governance
Safeguarding Children - To be alert to, communicate and seek consultation around Child Safeguarding concerns, in line with Trust protocol. To maintain mandatory update safeguarding training and competence
To help lead in clinical governance - attend departmental governance meetings, and help ensure compliance against Trust, CQC and DoH standards, and support all learning from incidents or complaints .
To contribute to audit, relevant to the post.
To adhere to Trust policy on complaints, risk management and recording.
Management
To work closely with Trust Board, the CAMHS Clinical Business Unit, and Greater Manchester Eating Disorder Network to support ongoing service review and development.
To ensure that national, local and professional policies, procedures and protocols are adhered to.
To be an active member of the CAMHS Clinical Business Unit and the CAMHS Consultants group. To undertake strategic managerial tasks as appropriate to the post, including when feasible, participation in CAMHS Eating Disorder service networking and commissioner / stakeholder engagement.
