Introduction to YSJ University

Situated in the heart of the historic city of York, and with the addition of our London Campus, York St John University has a long and proud tradition as a distinguished higher education provider.

Our success is founded on the quality of academic teaching and research, our thriving campus environments, our professional and pastoral support, and our values of an inclusive, innovative and ambitious community with a strong sense of belonging.

The Team

The Digital Experience team brings these values to life on the website, actively championing accessibility and the user experience while consistently applying the York St John University brand and tone of voice. Sitting in the Marketing department, the team consists of the Digital Experience Manager, Digital Experience Coordinator, Marketing and Content Coordinator, Systems Developer, and two Content Designers.

The Role

We are now seeking a Content Designer to join our energetic team in the fast paced and high performing Marketing department, based at our York campus. As one of our two Content Designers, you will be responsible for leading the design and development of high quality, accessible content across the website and associated digital channels. By working to oversee content style guidelines and managing how content is published to our digital channels, you will improve engagement with our users and contribute to the success of our overall marketing strategy. You will also meet, engage and help our audience of prospective students and their guardians at Open Days, Decision Days and other events held on occasional Saturdays.

Required Skills and Experience

As the successful candidate, you will be able to demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills and attention to detail, as well as an ability to organise your own workload and that of others, deal with competing priorities, and meet deadlines. You will also have knowledge of working to website accessibility standards, and experience of using and guiding others to use content style guidelines.

Additional Information

If you need further information or wish to have an informal discussion about the role, please contact Rebecca Smith, Conversion and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) Manager, at r.smith2@yorksj.ac.uk.

It is anticipated that the selection process will include an interview and presentation.
