Overview:

What Car? is a trusted UK automotive brand known for its expert car reviews, buying advice, and industry insights. Established in 1973, it helps consumers make informed decisions with detailed vehicle tests, car valuations, and dealer tools. The long awaited brand's annual Car of the Year Awards highlight the best cars across various categories.

Reporting to the Digital Editor, you'll be a key part of the What Car? editorial team, writing, editing and managing a wide range of content for both print and digital platforms. You'll build your initiative, skills and knowledge to create industry-leading features, advice, reviews and social media content, and you'll develop a network of contacts to ensure early and exclusive access, keeping What Car? one step ahead of its rivals.

You'll be expected to use the full suite of tools at your disposal, from website and SEO analytics tools, through to Photoshop and What Car?'s content management system. You'll consider social media, too - all with the goal of ensuring your work reaches as many readers as possible.

Contribute to the subbing and uploading of online reviews, ensuring they meet SEO guidelines and hit embargoes. Ensure top 10s, Real MPG content and other evergreen stories are kept up to date, meet SEO guidelines, and are prioritised based on potential traffic. Identify and create new features with evergreen appeal. Lead the creation and upkeep of deals content Help more junior members of the team to improve their writing skills and awareness of best SEO practice. First-rate writing, including headlines and proofreading, with an emphasis on SEO and engagement Contribute to What Car?'s social media channels, using your skills and ideas to grow them. Attend relevant events as directed by the Digital Editor and Deputy Editor. Be an advocate for What Car? on these events, helping to ensure that the title gets the best early access to cars.
