Job overview

----------------

At Pate's Grammar School, we believe that education extends far beyond the classroom, offering a truly holistic experience to our students -- one that nurtures personal growth, fulfilment, and character development.

One of the most vibrant expressions of this vision is our Combined Cadet Force (CCF). As one of the largest and most successful contingents in the South West, our CCF plays a central role in shaping confident, resilient, capable young leaders. With thriving Army and RAF sections, and historic ties to the Royal Wessex Yeomanry, our contingent is deeply rooted in tradition, as well as being committed to innovation and inclusivity.

We are now seeking a Contingent Commander to lead this exceptional programme into its next chapter. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a lasting impact, continue a proud tradition, and help young people discover their potential through challenge, service and adventure.

We are pleased to provide an opportunity as a Contingent Commander to lead one of the largest and most respected CCF contingents in the South West.

This is a tactical leadership role at the heart of our thriving CCF programme.

Working closely with the School Staff Instructor (SSI), section leaders, Cadet Force Adult Volunteers (CFAVs), and the Senior Leadership Team, the
Contingent Commander will plan, deliver, and evaluate a high-quality training programme that reflects the school's ethos and supports the personal development of our cadets.

The role also involves ensuring compliance with MOD and school policies, managing the contingent's resources and equipment, and actively promoting the CCF within the school and the wider community. This is a hands-on position that requires flexibility and commitment, including regular evening and weekend activities,
as well as residential experiences such as annual camps and field exercises.

This is a fantastic opportunity to lead a successful, inclusive, forward-looking CCF contingent. If you are passionate about youth development, leadership and making a meaningful impact, we would love to hear from you.

The Outstanding Ofsted report we received in March 2024 evidences in its detail that Pate's Grammar School delivers, in every respect, an outstanding educational experience.

Our examination results see us as one of the top performing state-funded schools in the country; in the last few years, we have twice been awarded National School of the Year by The Sunday Times, and for the last two years named their State Secondary School of the Year for Academic Performance in the South West.

We support our students throughout their time with us, guiding them in their choices, intellectual and emotional development, to shape their own futures and outcomes for life beyond Pate's; our parent body and alumni community remain actively involved in school life for many years.
