Are you passionate about driving excellence in public services? We're looking for a driven Contract and Compliance Officer to join the West Midlands Combined Authority.

What you will be doing.

Ensure services meet quality standards and comply with current legislation, regulations, and contractual requirements. Support the commissioning and continuous improvement of services to meet performance targets and inspection criteria. Collaborate with senior commissioners to manage complex provider issues, including contract suspension or termination. Facilitate service development through workshops, learning sessions, and stakeholder engagement. Provide expert guidance on regulatory frameworks to colleagues and providers, promoting best practice and compliance. Monitor service performance through audits, reporting, and action planning, ensuring timely corrective measures. Liaise with external agencies including CQC, Ofsted, and health bodies to uphold service quality and regulatory standards. Contribute to financial and data analysis to support contract monitoring, while adhering to WMCA policies and procedures.

What's essential.

Experience of reviewing contracts, ensuring compliance with governing body/ public sector standards and regulations. Experience of developing and delivering SMART action plans, and monitoring such progress. Working effectively in partnership with other organisations and agencies. Effective collaboration with internal teams, with a view of developing and improving the service. Collating a range of data and information, presenting in a clear and concise manner. Knowledge of relevant legislative frameworks. (PCR2015, PA2023 etc) Ability to understand complex technical or legislative information and relay this back to non-specialist colleagues. Excellent communication skills, both written and oral. Degree or equivalent in relevant field. Evidence of continued professional development.

Location.

The location for this role is 16 Summer Lane, Birmingham, B19 3SD with at least 2 days a week spent in the office.
