CONTRACTS MANAGER

BRISTOL/ SITE BASED (SOUTH WEST/ LONDON)

SHOP FITTING/ RETAIL FIT OUT & REFURBISHMENT

About the client

My client, a leader in the retail, commercial & leisure fit out industry is growing their team. My client is seeking experienced Contracts Managers to work amongst a team of 7 on projects mainly across the South West and London.

About the role

Your day-to-day tasks may consist of:

  • Review the schedule for ongoing fit-out and refurbishment projects.
  • Coordinate with project managers, site supervisors, and subcontractors to ensure tasks are on track.
  • Visit project sites to assess progress, resolve any issues, and ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.
  • Communicate with site teams to provide guidance and address any immediate concerns.
  • Check and respond to emails, messages, and voicemails from clients regarding project updates, changes, and inquiries.
  • Arrange client meetings or conference calls to discuss project progress and address any concerns
  • Review contract documents, including terms, conditions, and specifications, for ongoing and upcoming projects.
  • Ensure that all parties involved are aware of their contractual obligations and responsibilities.
  • Review project budgets and expenditures, ensuring they align with the approved budget.
  • Collaborate with the finance department to track and manage project costs, invoices, and payments.
  • Assess and process change orders or variations to contracts, considering their impact on scope, schedule, and cost.
  • Coordinate with the client and subcontractors to negotiate and document changes
  • Communicate with subcontractors regarding project requirements, deadlines, and any necessary adjustments.
  • Review subcontractor performance and ensure adherence to quality and safety standards.
  • Compile and generate progress reports detailing project status, milestones achieved, and any deviations from the original plan.
  • Share these reports with stakeholders, including clients, senior management, and project teams.
  • Maintain accurate and organized project documentation, including contracts, correspondence, and permits.
  • Update project files with the latest information, ensuring easy accessibility for future reference.
  • Address any issues or conflicts that arise during project execution, finding practical solutions to minimize disruptions.
  • Identify potential risks and challenges that could affect project timelines, costs, or quality.
  • Develop strategies to mitigate risks and ensure projects remain on track.
  • Engage in regular meetings with project teams, including designers, engineers, and site personnel, to maintain open communication and ensure smooth project flow.
  • Stay informed about relevant industry regulations, codes, and standards that impact fit-out and refurbishment projects.
  • Ensure that projects adhere to legal and safety requirements.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and new technologies to enhance project management skills and knowledge.
About you

To be successful in this application, you will need to:
  • Be a hardworking person with experience in shopfitting, pub & retail refurbishment.
  • Have experience with multi trades management
  • Have experience as a site agent, with a view to progress your career
  • A trade or technical qualification is advantageous
  • Excellent organisational skills with an ability to meet tight deadlines and work within a team
  • Have a full clean UK driving licence
