Job Overview



PJH Co is seeking an experienced and highly capable Contracts Manager to lead and oversee the successful delivery of mechanical services projects across our portfolio. This key position requires strong commercial acumen, technical understanding of mechanical systems, and the ability to manage contracts from tender award through to final account.

The ideal candidate will have a proven background in mechanical contracting, project administration, and commercial management, with the confidence to take full ownership of contract performance, client relationships, subcontractor management, and financial control.

Key Responsibilities



Contract Management



Lead the administration, negotiation, and execution of contracts, subcontracts, and work packages.

Ensure all contractual obligations, specifications, and compliance requirements are met throughout project delivery.

Manage client communications, RFIs, variations, early warnings, and formal correspondence.

Oversee procurement processes, including subcontractor selection, negotiation, and performance monitoring.

Maintain accurate contract documentation, risk registers, and audit trails in line with company procedures.

Commercial & Financial Control



Monitor project budgets, forecasts, and cash flow to ensure commercial targets are achieved.

Assess and manage variations, change orders, and claims to protect commercial interests.

Lead commercial reporting and contribute to monthly cost/value reconciliations.

Work closely with the estimating and finance teams to ensure accurate pricing, billing, and cost tracking.

Project Coordination



Support Project Managers in the planning and delivery of mechanical services projects.

Ensure timely procurement and logistical coordination of materials, equipment, and subcontract services.

Attend project meetings and provide clear updates on progress, risks, and contractual issues.

Ensure all works are delivered in accordance with quality standards, safety policies, and client expectations.

Required Skills & Attributes



Strong understanding of mechanical services (HVAC, plumbing, heating systems).

Excellent contract administration skills and knowledge of standard forms of contract (NEC, JCT etc.).

High level of commercial awareness with the ability to identify risks and opportunities.

Exceptional written and verbal communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.

Strong organisational capabilities with the ability to manage multiple live contracts concurrently.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word; experience with project/contract management software is advantageous.

Qualifications & Experience



Minimum 3-5 years' experience in a contracts or commercial management role within mechanical or building services contracting.

NVQ, HNC, HND, or degree in Mechanical Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Building Services, Construction Management, or similar.

Proven track record of successfully administering contracts from award through final account.

Experience interfacing with clients, subcontractors, and project delivery teams.

Strong understanding of mechanical systems and construction processes.

Pay: 30,000.00-60,000.00 per year
