Contracts Team Leader

The role:

We are recruiting for a Contracts Team Leader to join us in our Royalties department, which is positioned within the Finance Services team and provides accounting and financial reporting for Penguin Random House. This role is offered on a full time basis and will be based at our distribution centre in , Colchester.

Reporting to the Royalty Manager, you will play a key role within the team checking new and amended contracts data in the Royalty system to ensure the calculation database is accurate.

As Contracts Team Leader you will be a direct line manager for Royalty Analysts, and will therefore have excellent management skills, strong attention to detail and a flexible approach to working.

Your key responsibilities will also include:

  • Check and approve contract amendments, changes of contractual party and new contractual agreements.
  • Query unusual contract clauses with the contracts department
  • Investigate anomalies within the Royalty Calculation engine warnings file
  • Assist the Finance Manager with reviewing various reports including the ExRoyalties by Reason and No Rules matched reports to ensure all sales captured correctly
  • Assist the Finance Manager with management of the Manual Licensing Statement accounting process, liaising with external licensees
  • Assist the Finance Manager with royalty period end checking
  • Analysis of Reverted titles
  • Responsibility for recalculations of royalty statements after rate amendments
  • Line management of two Royalty Analysts
What you\'ll bring:

To be successful within this role you will be a proven people manager with experience in performance management and fostering continuous team learning and development. You\'ll be able to demonstrate experience in a high volume transaction business area and will have strong numeracy skills. A background in Royalties would be advantageous but is not essential.

High proficiency in MS Office programs including Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint will be crucial, alongside a positive and enthusiastic attitude to your work.

The team:

The royalties team comprises of 10 people, who are split in to 3 smaller teams. Royalty Contracts is where this role sits and is primarily responsible for the manual statements and the editing of the contracts for missing rates and royalty sets. The Head Contracts team actively set up the contracts within our system Biblio so that advances can be paid and royalties can be calculated. They also look at deceased authors, bank and address changes. The final team is that of Royalty Operations. Within this team they look at the daily and monthly reconciliations of the sales to ensure we are accurately reporting. As a team we also look after the period end processing.

Salary: \xc2\xa326,000 - \xc2\xa328,500 depending on your skills and experience align to the role.
