What you'll be doing
As a Control Room Operative, you'll play a central role in safeguarding people, property, and premises by maintaining constant vigilance over our advanced surveillance systems. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

  • Monitoring multiple CCTV screens and alarm systems in real time to spot any suspicious, unusual, or potentially threatening activity across the site.
  • Tracking movements of individuals or events across different camera views, quickly identifying possible security breaches or risks.
  • Analysing both live feeds and recorded footage to detect incidents, behavioural patterns, or anomalies that could indicate a security concern.
  • Responding promptly to any detected incidents by reporting them clearly and accurately to security teams, site managers, law enforcement, or other relevant stakeholders.
  • Creating detailed, accurate incident reports and maintaining comprehensive daily logs of observations, system checks, and actions taken.
  • Performing regular checks and basic maintenance on CCTV cameras, recording equipment, and related systems - troubleshooting minor issues yourself and escalating more complex faults to technical support.
  • Ensuring all footage is recorded, stored, and handled in full compliance with data protection laws (including GDPR) and company policies to protect privacy and maintain legal standards.
  • Collaborating closely with on-site security personnel, law enforcement, and other partners - providing real-time intelligence, facilitating secure access to footage, and supporting investigations when required.
  • Supporting the wider team by helping to train new colleagues on system operations, security protocols, and how to recognise suspicious behaviour.
Who we're looking for
We're seeking a vigilant Control Room Operative to monitor surveillance systems and ensure safety and security.
Essential
  • Valid SIA Front Line Licence for CCTV Operations (Public Space Surveillance).
Desirable Experience & Skills
  • Proven experience in CCTV operation, surveillance monitoring, or similar security role.
  • Proficient in operating/troubleshooting CCTV equipment, surveillance software, and alarm systems.
  • Basic IT skills for incident reporting, data entry, and footage management.
Core Competencies
  • Exceptional attention to detail and ability to detect suspicious behaviour.
  • Calm under pressure with quick, logical decision-making.
  • Strong verbal and written communication, especially in high-stress situations.
  • Sustained focus and stamina for long shifts while seated.
  • Good knowledge of privacy laws, GDPR, and CCTV data protection protocols
