Join our OCC team as a Control Support Engineer, where you'll provide essential engineering support to the Control Room, helping to optimise operations and enhance service delivery across our electricity networks. What you'll be doingCarrying out activities to ensure that OCC Control Room delivers maximum efficiency for safety, network security and restoration of customer supplies. Including, but not limited to: Maintenance and optimisation of automation schemes, including reporting on defective schemes, successful schemes and savings Office based support to Control Persons to react to changes being driven externally (e.g. SOP updates, policy changes). Analysis, optimisation and documentation of processes inside Control Room Assist with interaction with Incident Controllers as required Emergency planning response - supporting PowerOn processes required for Control Room response to emergency situations eg OC6 Update Controlled Documents as required. Storm role to be confirmed based on knowledge, skills and experience
What you'll bringUnderstanding of SPD 11kV & 33kV network running arrangements Knowledge of PowerOn HNC Electrical Engineering or equivalent Experience working on electricity distribution network or Control Room Knowledge of Fault Management Process. Understanding of electrical network principles Knowledge of SPEN business processes & working practices. Knowledge of Planned Outage Process. Understanding customer requirement and BMCS feedback. Ability to recognise improvement areas and build into operating plan. Ability to recognise quality updates and gaps for improvement. Positive and flexible attitude to work collaboratively with internal and external customers to deliver the best possible customer experience. Ability to identify improvements and make recommendations for changes to end to end processes. Positive and flexible attitude to do what is needed. Ability to be pro active and adapt to change. Ability to plan own workload and prioritise tasks appropriately. Able to plan ahead to ensure maximum benefit driven from value-adding activities.
