We are seeking a skilled Controls Engineer with hands-on experience in design, onsite commissioning and programming techniques. This role involves developing, upgrading, and implementing advanced automation systems, including PLCs, ROS-Python, IGNITION, HMIs, and robotics controls. The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with assembly teams, hardware and software design teams to ensure successful project execution and provide technical support to technicians.
Controls Engineer - Programming Role & Responsibilities
Design, develop, and implement advanced automation systems utilizing PLCs, HMIs, and robotics controls.
Upgrade existing systems to enhance performance and functionality, ensuring compatibility with current technologies.
Utilize ROS-Python for developing robust control algorithms for robotic applications.
Configure and optimize IGNITION for real-time monitoring and control of automation systems.
Assist onsite commissioning activities to ensure systems are installed and function according to specifications.
Conduct thorough testing and validation of systems post-installation to guarantee reliability and efficiency.
Work closely with assembly teams and hardware/software design teams to align project objectives and ensure seamless integration of systems.
Provide technical support and guidance to assembly and maintenance engineers/ technicians during installation and troubleshooting processes.
Prepare comprehensive documentation, including system specifications, user manuals, and maintenance guides.
Conduct training sessions for technicians and end-users to facilitate effective system operation and maintenance.
Identify opportunities for process enhancements and contribute to the development of innovative automation solutions.
Stay updated on industry trends and advancements in automation technologies.
Controls Engineer - Requirements & Qualifications
Degree Qualified in an Engineering discipline or have progressed through an Engineering Apprenticeship
At least 3 years of hand-on experience in Controls Design Engineering with a strong focus on onsite commissioning and programming.
Proficient in PLC programming and HMI design; experience with ROS-Python and IGNITION is highly desirable.
Familiarity with robotics controls and integration techniques.
Familiarity with Python, PLC & Ignition programming is must and experience with other languages a bonus
Ability to comprehend and adhere to health and safety regulations and standards
Ability to anticipate problems and quickly find solutions to them
Ability to analyse situations and provide prompt solutions to challenges
