This role requires you to be on-site at Hinkley Point C, Bridgwater for a minimum of 3 days per week.

The Opportunity




At Hinkley Point C (HPC) we are building two new nuclear reactors, the first in a new generation of nuclear power stations in the UK providing low carbon electricity for around six million homes.


As a Conventional Safety Lead, you'll be a key part of our Health, Safety and Learning function, ensuring that our legal obligations under the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 are met. You'll work closely with our construction partners, regulators, and internal teams to embed a culture of safety and continuous improvement. Your experience in within a highly regulated industry will help shape a safer future for all involved in this landmark project.

What You'll Be Doing




You'll be the go-to expert for ensuring our compliance with the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations, specifically in relation to the Client's responsibilities. Your role will be pivotal in

shaping and maintaining high standards of health and safety

across the project, ensuring that risks are managed proportionately and effectively.


You'll

lead audits, reviews, and assessments

to identify best practices and areas for improvement, working closely with regulators and certification bodies. Your insights will help drive

innovation and continuous improvement

, ensuring that safety, quality, cost, and programme goals are met.


From

supporting incident investigations

to managing

office-related health and safety matters

, you'll be a visible and proactive presence across the project. You'll also play a key role in promoting wellbeing, maintaining risk assessments, and ensuring our safety culture is embedded at every level.

Who You Are




You bring a strong foundation in occupational health and safety, holding a NEBOSH Diploma and membership with IOSH or EIT, ideally working towards Chartership. Your experience spans complex engineering or construction projects, and you're confident navigating the challenges and opportunities they present.


You have expert knowledge of the CDM Regulations 2015 and a deep understanding of health and safety practices in high-hazard industries. Your communication skills are second to none, you can engage with a wide range of stakeholders and present data clearly and persuasively.


You're comfortable working with regulators, analysing safety data, and applying your insights to drive improvements. Your attention to detail, combined with a collaborative mindset, makes you a trusted advisor and a champion for safety across the board.

Additionally, you must meet the criteria for Security Vetting, which generally requires you to have been a UK resident for at least 3 of the last 5 years.
