Conversion Supervisor

to join our fast-paced Production team and help us raise the bar even further.

Role Overview



As

Conversion Supervisor

, you will take a lead role in the daily operations of the Conversion Department, managing production teams to ensure the successful execution of the daily production plan. You will maintain a sharp focus on safety, quality, cost-efficiency, and people development. Your leadership will be instrumental in driving a culture of continuous improvement, teamwork, and accountability while ensuring compliance with technical and legal standards.

Key Responsibilities



Operational Management



Oversee daily production activities to ensure timely execution of plans and targets. Monitor team performance and line efficiencies, making adjustments as needed to maintain throughput. Implement robust processes to minimise waste and downtime while maximising output.

Health & Safety



Champion a proactive safety culture; ensure team adherence to company and statutory safety procedures. Conduct regular safety audits, risk assessments, and lead incident investigations where necessary. Collaborate with the Health & Safety Officer and Production Manager on accident reduction strategies.

Quality, Hygiene & Compliance



Ensure all production meets internal and external quality standards (e.g. BRC, ISO). Maintain rigorous hygiene and housekeeping practices; address non-conformance promptly. Collaborate with Quality Assurance and Hygiene teams to drive best practices.

People Management



Provide clear leadership, motivation, and direction to the conversion team. Manage team rotas, shift coverage, absence reviews, and disciplinary matters. Conduct performance reviews, support development plans, and promote internal training. Foster a collaborative and respectful work environment.

Communication & Collaboration



Act as the key liaison between the Conversion Department and other internal teams, including Engineering, QA, NPD, and HR. Communicate production updates, shift changes, and business priorities clearly to your team. Deliver regular team briefs and contribute to departmental updates.

Process Improvement & Systems



Promote and manage the effective use of PRISM within your area, encouraging data-led decision making. Drive continuous improvement initiatives across safety, quality, efficiency, and cost. Support engineering and technical teams in identifying equipment upgrades and resolving technical issues.

Customer and New Product Development (NPD)



Represent the department during customer visits and site audits. Lead and coordinate NPD trials, ensuring readiness and accurate feedback to stakeholders. Work closely with commercial and technical teams to meet and exceed customer expectations.

Ad-Hoc Responsibilities



Support projects as directed by the Production Manager or Shift Manager. Remain flexible to assist across shifts or departments as required.

Safety

: Reduced accident rates, completed audits, and implemented corrective actions.

Quality

: "Right First Time" scores, reduced rework or non-conformance rates.

Efficiency

: Downtime reduction, waste minimisation, and optimal material utilisation.

Team Engagement

: Low absence rates, training completion, and improved staff performance.

Compliance

: Audit readiness, adherence to standards and timely documentation.

Who We're Looking For



We're seeking a hands-on leader who combines strong operational knowledge with excellent people management skills. You'll be quality-conscious, safety-aware, and confident in delivering against demanding production schedules.

Essential Skills & Experience



Proven supervisory experience within a manufacturing or FMCG environment. Strong knowledge of production processes, quality systems (e.g. BRC/ISO), and hygiene standards. Demonstrated ability to lead and develop a high-performing team. Good understanding of labour, material usage, waste management, and cost control. Proficiency with production management systems (e.g., PRISM) and Microsoft Office. Excellent communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

Desirable



Experience with continuous improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma). Understanding of financial impacts on production, including cost variances and yield. Involvement in NPD or customer-facing production environments. Coaching, mentoring, or training delivery background.
