Job Summary

Bo'ness Care Home are seeking a passionate and skilled individual to join our kitchen team. Initially on a 6 month contract with the possibility of extending this.

The home supports 27 residents with varying degrees of both physical and dementia care needs.

This role involves preparing and cooking a variety of dishes while ensuring the highest standards of food safety and quality. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in kitchen operations, preferably within a Care Home environment, and have a working knowledge of IDDSI requirements.

Duties

Prepare and cook meals according to planned menus. Ensure all food is prepared in compliance with food safety regulations and hygiene standards. Assist in meal preparation, including chopping, marinating, and seasoning ingredients. Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area, including equipment and utensils. Collaborate with other kitchen staff to ensure efficient service during busy periods. Monitor inventory levels of food supplies and report any shortages to management. Participate in menu planning and development, offering creative ideas for new dishes.

Requirements

Proven experience in food preparation Familiarity with food safety standards and best practices in meal preparation. Previous Care Home experience is highly desirable. Knowledge of IDDSI and textured diets Excellent teamwork skills with the ability to communicate effectively with colleagues. A genuine passion for food and commitment to delivering high-quality dishes.
Job Type: Fixed term contract
Contract length: 6 months

Pay: 13.00-13.50 per hour

Expected hours: 21 per week
