Cook Braceborough, Pe9 4nt

Stamford, ENG, GB, United Kingdom

Job Description

Braceborough Hall Care Home is situated in Braceborough, a delightful South Lincolnshire village approximately 6 miles from Stamford, Bourne and Market Deeping.

We opened our doors as a care home in 1985 and have been managed by the current owners since inception. An early Victorian house and we are situated in 2 acres of lawns and trees in a small village providing a calm and peaceful environment. The property has been extensively modernised in recent years but in a sympathetic way to ensure that it retains its original character.

The overriding aim of the home has always been to provide the highest level of personal care to its clients paying careful attention to their personal needs. We are registered for 25 residents and whilst there has been the temptation to extend the home to cater for additional numbers, this has been resisted on the basis that we wish to retain the home from home feeling and also because such a move could impact negatively on the standard of care provided. We believe that this makes us more attractive compared with some of the larger homes.

Purpose of the Role

As Cook, you play a vital role in enriching the daily lives of our residents through flavour, nourishment and hospitality. You'll carry out the day-to-day operations of our kitchen, creating comforting, well-balanced meals that meet both nutritional needs and personal preferences--while upholding the highest standards of food safety and hygiene.

Core Responsibilities

Meal Preparation & Service:

Prepare wholesome, appetising meals and snacks using pre-set menus tailored to residents' dietary requirements. Bake delicious homemade treats for afternoon tea, birthdays and seasonal celebrations. Adjust portions and ingredients for individual dietary needs, including diabetic, low-sodium and allergen-sensitive diets.

Kitchen & Stock Management:

Monitor stock levels and communicate ordering needs to senior staff. Ensure kitchen, equipment, fridges and storage areas are cleaned daily to a high standard. Complete weekly and monthly deep cleaning tasks of kitchen and stock rooms. Maintain safe and secure storage of all food and equipment.

Hygiene & Compliance:

Comply with Health & Safety, Food Hygiene, Fire Safety and internal policies at all times. Attend relevant training to stay current with best practices. Maintain exemplary personal hygiene and wear appropriate protective clothing.

Communication & Teamwork:

Collaborate closely with Care Team Leaders to accommodate changing dietary needs. Engage daily with residents, fostering positive relationships and encouraging feedback on meals. Support the wider team by tidying and closing the kitchen at the end of each day.

What We're Looking For

We're seeking someone who brings skill, warmth and care to the kitchen--a person who understands that good food is central to wellbeing.

Friendly and respectful towards residents, treating each person as a valued individual. Able to work independently and collaboratively within a team. Highly motivated with excellent communication and time management skills. Positive, patient and compassionate--able to bring a touch of joy to every plate served.
At Braceborough Hall Retirement Home, we're proud to offer a comprehensive benefits package designed to support our team both personally and professionally. Here's what staff can look forward to:
