Job description
At Bradshaw, our commitment to our pupils is that we will attract, retain and develop excellent staff. The personal welfare and professional development of staff is therefore imperative.
We put our team at the heart of our vision and use their talents to achieve it. We are looking for equally committed staff to join our team.
We have following post available to commence as soon as possible:
We are seeking an enthusiastic Cook who is self-motivated and has effective supervisory and communication skills.
You must have excellent time management and organisational skills as well as an ability to bake and prepare fresh meals. You will be hands on with an eye for detail, ensuring high standards of food presentation.
You must have the ability to calculate meal portions based upon the daily meal numbers, which currently are approximately 200 per day.
You will have excellent knowledge on nutritional requirements in a school and be fully up to date with allergen legislation to ensure compliance across the school catering.
The physical ability to bend, move around and use equipment such as ovens, mixers and mop buckets is essential, therefore the knowledge of safe lifting and handling is required (although training will be given).
Previous school catering experience is not needed but would be an advantage.
We are seeking someone with a proven ability to follow health and safety procedures and policies as well as being flexible when needed. The successful applicant must be self-motivated and able to work with minimum supervision.
Candidates must have:
The relevant qualification, at least a Level 3 in Food Safety and Hygiene for Supervisors
Experience of working in a commercial kitchen, e.g. care homes, nurseries and schools
The ability to assist with devising menus following latest guidelines and be able to identify allergens within recipes.
The necessary English and Maths skills to update paper and computer records for the purposes of recording safety and hygiene documentation and for ordering stock.
The ability to implement and maintain statutory and school standards of hygiene, food safety and health & safety.
The ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, the pupils and other members of school staff.
Strong communication skills and a good sense of self-awareness.
For the vacancy our school offers you the opportunity to:
Work in a friendly, caring and inclusive community where everyone is valued.
Engage with enthusiastic children who are well behaved and enjoy learning.
Work with an experienced, supportive and successful team who love to work collaboratively.
Development that will support you on your chosen career path.
