Marillac Neurological Care Centre is a 52 bed centre providing 24 hour nursing and therapy services for people over the age of 18 with complex acquired and progressive neurological and physical disabilities.

We are currently looking for a skilled

Full Time Cook

to work as part of our five-star catering team in providing a quality catering service and excellent customer service.

Working hours:

Mon to Thurs 8am to 4pm & Fri 8am to 1:30pm with the occasional weekend (37.5 hours per week). These hours could change slightly.

Responsibilities:



To work with and report to the Catering Manager. To provide the highest quality of food at all times. To follow recipes and cook according to the regularly updated menu for staff, residents and visitors. To become familiar with the dietary and nutritional requirements of each of the residing residents at the Marillac Neurological Care Centre. To maintain excellent food hygiene standards at all times including: cross contamination and food allergy awareness. To collaborate and work with a Multi-Disciplinary team consisting of Registered Nurses, Qualified Therapists and Health Care Assistants with your line manager to meet the residents' needs. To assist the Catering Manager in preparing for regular inspections from local authorities, ensuring all standards are met to keep the kitchen at a 5 food hygiene rating.
To be responsible for the Catering Department when the Catering Manager is off-duty. To communicate effectively to all levels within the Marillac Neurological Care Centre. To incorporate the Marillac NCC's values of Trust, Respect, Hope, Dignity and Excellence in your role.

Requirements:



Proven current experience as a Cook (preferably minimum of 2 years). Excellent understanding of food hygiene standards. Preferable experience in working to prepare for FSA and Environment Agency audits and inspections in order to uphold a 5 catering business.
Effective and strong communication skills. Good stamina and physical ability to work in a kitchen environment, standing for long periods of time. Must have a minimum Level 2 Food Health & Safety qualification. Preferable relevant City & Guilds or NVQ equivalent qualifications. Ability to supervise a small team and at times, manage the department. Can work individually and as part of a team.

Successful employment is subject to a satisfactory Enhanced Check from the Disclosure & Barring Service carried out by the MNCC as well as, a full right to work in the UK, 2 satisfactory references and a full Occupational Health check.
