Overview:


We are seeking a passionate and skilled Cook to work at our new Convent with Care based in Brentwood. St Joseph's Convent is a 23 bedroom home which provides high-quality care to the Religious Sisters of Mercy.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in meal preparation, food safety, and kitchen operations. As a Cook, you will play a vital role in providing a catering service which ensures that nutritious and wholesome meals are offered. This position requires a commitment to culinary excellence and the ability to provide a flexible service to meet the range of Sisters' needs and wishes.

Working Hours:



The hours will be shared between 2 cooks on a 2 week rota basis covering 7 days. You will have every other weekend off.

Average working hours per week - 22.75

Responsibilities:


- Prepare and cook food that will help facilitate a healthy balanced diet
- Ensure all food is prepared in compliance with food safety regulations.
- Assist in the planning of menus
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area.
- Help with inventory management, including ordering and storing supplies.
- Work with colleagues to ensure that specific dietary needs of Sisters are understood and appropriately catered for.
- Monitor food quality during preparation and presentation.

Requirements


- Proven experience as a Cook ideally in a care home setting for older adults
- Strong knowledge of culinary techniques and food preparation methods.
- Familiarity with food safety standards and regulations.
- Ability to work well under pressure in a busy kitchen environment.
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
- A passion for cooking and creating high-quality nutritious food
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends.
