Job Title: Cook Part time 3 days a week including some Saturdays



Location: St Anne's Care Home and Euphrasie Barbier Convent (EBC)



Responsible To: Care Home Manager and Housekeeper



Hours: 1 day 6am-3pm, 2 days 8am-1pm (flexible hours considered)



Hourly rate: 13.10



1 Job Purpose

The post holder will be expected to provide a catering service to the Sisters of St Anne's Care Home and Euphrasie Barbier Convent, (EBC) which will include individuals with special dietary needs.

They will deliver a service that reflects the standards and ethos set out by the Care Manager and the Sisters of Our Lady of the Missions.

To contribute to the Sisters' well-being by providing meals and food that reflects excellent nutrition, choice, independence, variety and dignity

2 Scope & Range

2.1 The post holder will work within an agreed budget while maintaining the required standards as determined by the Care Manager and Housekeeper.

2.2 They will be responsible for ensuring health and safety and food hygiene regulations, including preparation and storage of food are maintained.

3 Main Duties

3.1 To provide a cooked lunch for sisters each day including a choice of main course and desert for sisters in the Care Home.

3..2 To prepare and assist with breakfast when working in St Annes Care Home

3.3 To bake cakes and pastries ready for afternoon tea

3.4 To attend and cater for events as required including funerals and feast days providing a variety of savoury and sweet food

3.5 To work with other cooks to ensure menus are nutritious, varied, and appropriate that are led by the Sisters.

3.6 Where required to manage the direct serving of the meals in a professional and courteous manner

3.7 To liaise with the Care Manager to ensure that the quality and standards of meals are met at all times

3.8 To liaise with the Care Manger and staff regarding the assessment of the Sisters nutritional well-being, ensure implementation of any changes to their needs are identified and met.

4 Legal & Ethical

4.1 To comply with all current legislation regarding Food Hygiene, Health and Safety, COSHH and Fire regulations.

4.2 To ensure accurate records are kept as the Housekeeper and Care Manager

determine.

4.3 To participate in any risk assessments that relate to the general day to day operating of the catering service.

4.4 To have a full understanding of the need for confidentiality

5 Communications & Relationships

5.1 Engage in effective communication with the Sisters living in the care home, EBC and Visitors to the site

5.2 To provide support, empathy and reassurance in the delivery of the meals to the Sisters in the home.

5.3 To be able to communicate in a mature and reasoned manner.

6 Experience, Education & Training Required to Do the Job

6.1 Catering qualification or equivalent experience.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: 13.10 per hour

Expected hours: 19 per week
