The Cook is ultimately responsible to the Home Manager, in the absence of the Home Manager, the post holder will be accountable to the Senior on duty.
The post will be 8 hours a week mix of supper and every other weekend cooking.
The post holder should have an awareness of the need to promote the privacy, dignity, independence, choice, rights and fulfilment of all Service Users, treating everyone with respect.
Role and Responsibilities:
To participate in the preparation, cooking and serving of meals, snacks, cakes etc; in accordance with specified menus.
Determine the quantities to be cooked and size of portions to be served, taking into account Service Users choice.
Ensure individuals on special diets or with specific cultural needs are catered for and that choice is always available.
Complete any necessary cleaning according to the cleaning
Ensure all the usual "Safe handling of food" processes are followed as required.
Ensure washing and cleaning of floors, crockery, utensils, work surfaces and other kitchen equipment are cleaned and maintained to meet the necessary hygiene, health & safety standards, in both the kitchen and dining areas.
Ensure the appropriate PPE is worn at all times and is clean and well maintained.
To undertake such other duties as may be required with regard to any social activities being held.
To understand responsibilities in relation to fire procedures, health & safety, COSHH, infection control, food hygiene and emergency first aid.
Participate in Inter-departmental and staff meetings.
To attend mandatory training and other training sessions appropriate to the role.
Participation in staff supervision and personal development reviews.
Take responsibility for personal development by keeping abreast of developments in the field of catering for older people
To undertake such other duties as may be mutually determined from time to time..
