About the home
Shepherds Corner specialises in supporting up to 13 service users with mental health and/or learning disabilities. It is a homely environment where the majority of clients have resided with the home for extended periods of time.
About the role
Nutrition is an important part of providing the perfect care to our service users, and the Cook does just this! You will have all dietary requirements/ cultural requirements, and a genuine interest in the wellbeing of our service users, to serve up meals following these guidelines. Please note this is a part time role, working Thursdays and Fridays.
Responsibilities
Prepare nutritional meals (lunch and dinner), following a menu plan, whilst meeting the needs of our culturally and diet specific residents.
Daily cleaning and maintenance of the kitchen and equipment
Maintain inventory of kitchen equipment
Utilise knowledge of HACCP and current food regulations
Management of food ordering and stock rotation
Interaction with Service Users to reflect their food choices
Role Requirements
Good and proven communication skills essential
Must be able to communicate verbally with vulnerable adults
Able to work under own initiative
Flexible with hours of work
Willingness to learn about CQC/Care Standards
Must have a minimum of Food Hygiene Level 2 Certificate and previous experience of food preparation and cooking in a commercial/domestic/hospital setting.
