To prepare and present food at Cafe Refresh for the meals at home delivery service and for customers attending the cafe.
Working flexibly as a member of the team you will provide delicious food to our customers. You will manage and work in the kitchen to a high standard and in accordance to food safety legislation. Your main duties will include but not limited to, food preparation, maintaining food hygiene standards, managing volunteers and handling money.
Key Responsibilities
To prepare, food and present to a high standards of well balanced meals and snacks
Ensure that a good standard of hygiene and cleanliness is maintained throughout the kitchen, to meet the required standards of practice.
Carry out good food management, temperature controls and documentation to current Food Hygiene Regulations
Ensure all equipment is well maintained and in good working order, log any deficits
Perform kitchen opening checks, closing checks and monitoring
Work closely with management on meal choices that reflects the customers needs
Work with and supervise kitchen volunteers
Perform end of day cashing up and reporting for the cafe
Person Specification
Essential
Genuine interest in working in a kitchen / cafe
Experience in preparing food and cooking to a high standard
Excellent understanding of current legislation
Working knowledge of opening and closure f a kitchen
A commitment to equal opportunities
Hold a Level 2 NVQ or equivalent in food Hygiene
Desirable
Previous experience of working in a cafe and front of house
Skills and Abilities
Ability to work on own initiative
And excellent team player
Ability to adapt to change and respond positively to new challenges
Have the ability to work flexible hours which will include weekends
Discretion and a strict adherence to the policy of confidentiality
Good listening skills
The ability to work unsupervised when necessary

Special Requirements
The post holder must be prepared to undertake an appropriate Disclosure and Barring Service check and provide references in accordance with the agreed recruitment procedure.
