Overview


We are seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to join our team in the role of Cook. This position offers an exciting opportunity to develop culinary skills within a quality care home setting. The successful candidate will be responsible for food preparation, cooking well balanced and nutritional meals, and maintaining high standards of food safety and hygiene. Prior experience in a care home kitchen is preferred, and a knowledge of fortified and staged dietary requirements would be an advantage.

Responsibilities



Responsible for food preparation for 21 Residents with varying dietary requirements and in accordance with established recipes and standards Support cooking processes, ensuring dishes are prepared efficiently and to quality specifications Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area, adhering to food safety regulations Help with inventory management, including stock rotation and storage of ingredients Ensure all food safety protocols are followed, including proper handling and storage of perishable items Support serving staff during busy periods to ensure smooth service flow and maintain a good dining experience for residents Contribute positively to team efforts by maintaining a professional attitude and supporting colleagues as needed

Requirements



A recognised certificate in Food Preparation, i.e. REHIS Intermediate Certificate in Food Hygiene, or equivalent is preferred Previous experience in food preparation in a care home setting in preferred, and a knowledge of special dietary requirements and preparing meals for fortified diets would be a great advantage Knowledge of food safety standards and hygiene practices, i.e. Cooksafe, HACCP, and the ability to maintain and complete the required paperwork within the EHO standards required of a care home setting Ability to plan menus, order and maintain food stocks to ensure well balanced nutritional meals are provided for residents Ability to work efficiently and supervise kitchen staff within the catering team Strong organisational skills with attention to detail, particularly in adhering to care home policies and procedures Good communication skills and a team-oriented mindset Availability to work flexible hours including weekends as required by the role

Pay: 13.50-14.50 per hour
