Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic cook to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our cafe.

This is a very independent position. On most days, the cafe operates with one cook responsible for cooking hot food -- breakfast rolls and various lunch items -- as well as food prep.

The position will be about 20 hours per week.

Shifts start at 6:30am, so you must have a reliable means of transportation at that time.

If wanted, there is opportunity to for additional hours serving customers coffee and cold food items.

Responsibilities

Assisting with cooking hot food - such as breakfast rolls - and food prep. Support food preparation tasks, including chopping, mixing, and cooking as required. Maintain cleanliness and organisation in the kitchen area. Help with the setup and breakdown of the cafe during opening and closing hours. Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient kitchen operations and timely service delivery.

Experience

Previous experience in a restaurant or cafe environment is advantageous but not essential. We will provide training to a dedicated individual. Familiarity with food safety practices and culinary skills is preferred. A willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced kitchen setting is crucial. Strong communication skills and the ability to work well within a team are essential for success in this role.
