About Birdies Cafe

Birdies Cafe is part of Strathclyde Park Family Golf Centre -- a vibrant, welcoming venue for golfers, families, and park visitors. Our cafe serves freshly prepared hot and cold food, great coffee, and homemade treats in a relaxed setting overlooking the driving range. We pride ourselves on quality, consistency, and a friendly customer experience.

Role Purpose

The Cook plays a key role in delivering excellent food quality and efficient service. You'll prepare and present simple, fresh meals and snacks to a high standard while maintaining excellent hygiene and safety throughout the kitchen.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare and cook menu items to order, ensuring consistent quality and presentation. Support the development of daily specials and seasonal menu ideas. Ensure all food is prepared, stored, and served safely in line with food hygiene standards. Maintain cleanliness across all kitchen areas -- following daily and weekly cleaning schedules. Manage stock levels, rotate ingredients, and assist with deliveries and ordering. Minimise food waste and manage portion control effectively. Work closely with the front-of-house team to ensure smooth, efficient service. Comply with all health, safety, and food hygiene regulations. Provide a warm and professional service that reflects Birdies Cafe values.

Skills and Experience

Essential:

Proven experience in a cafe, bistro, or similar kitchen environment. Good understanding of food safety and kitchen hygiene. Ability to work calmly under pressure during busy service periods. Strong teamwork and communication skills. Positive attitude and pride in producing quality food.

Desirable:

Level 2 Food Hygiene certificate (training can be provided). Experience in menu planning or contributing creative ideas. Barista or front-of-house experience (a plus, but not required).
